After the prompt arrival of our new furniture at 8:30 am, we took Bailey to the vet. Her abdomen is swollen so much she looks like she swallowed a football.

She has an infected uterus so she needs a hysterectomy. She'll be staying at the vet's tonight, and may have to stay another night after the surgery. I was really worried about her going into surgery given her age (she's 13) & the health problems she's had in the past year, but the vet is hopeful. So I hope there's no complications and she bounces back quickly. I'll find out tomorrow after my class.

Now, homework :S

Your prayers/energy/thoughts are working! Thank you! We took Bailey to the vet this morning. She was still the same, head flopped over to the side jerking back and forth, eyes darting all over, unable to walk. She's down to 5 pounds (she's 12 years old but small, normally around 7lbs) and was quite dehydrated by this morning. She has Vestibular Disease, which can be caused by inner ear infection or ear problems but it isn't in Bailey's case. It can also be caused by some other infection or virus in the brain (less likely), or a stroke, or tumor; in addition she has a heart murmer. So the vet wasn't very hopeful, and she even suggested we might want to just put Bailey down right now instead of doing the tests & giving her a run of antibiotics. We weren't prepared to do that unless we were absolutely sure she couldn't recover, so the vet said we'd know for sure in a week.

She did bloodwork (that she was supposed to call me back about this afternoon) gave Bailey some fluid under her skin, some blood thinner, and some antibiotics. We have to hand feed her a 'seniors shake' through a syringe, which is just watered down high nutrient food, and keep giving her asprin & antibiotics for the next 10 days.

She's doing so much better! Her eyes have stopped moving all around and her head isn't jerking so much, and even though she's still a bit shakey she's walking around and even holding her head up!

~ Thanks again! ~

Prognosis is bad.

I'll update after the vet calls with the test results.

Bailey is not ok, she's walking all lopsided. Her head is low to the floor and tilted at an odd angle, her pupils are dialated and her eyes seem loose and shaky like a pair of googley eyes for crafts. The only animal hospital that is open for emergencies is far from home, and they charge $50 for an emergency fee, $50 for the exam plus treatment. We were going to do it anyway but a friend of my sisters called her vet and she said it could be an emergency, or it could be as simple as an ear infection. Roman decided he's going to keep an eye on her and try to keep her comfortable until morning and we'll take her to her own vet. I hope she's going to be ok.
