I had a speech impediment caused by the piece of skin under my tounge being attached all the way to the tip. When I was 15 I had it corrected by a surgical procedure called a frenectomy.

FALSE

I NEVER had a problem talking ;) My mother's joke is that I said my first word when I was 5 months old and I haven't shut up since. There was no speech impediment as a result of my tied tounge, I couldn't stick my tounge out at people or lick my upper lip though. I'll admit that this was a trick question, as I did have a frenectomy when I was 15, because when I went for a consultation on my wisdom teeth the oral surgeon told me about the procedure and then asked me if I had any problems with speech. I told him I did so that he'd do it and I'd be able to stick out my tounge. :p This is one reason I will NEVER get my tounge pierced, it healed fast but it was incredibly painful and my tounge swelled up to twice it's size for 2 or 3 days.

My 8 year old Marissa has my tounge, well it used to be :D Her speech is unaffected as well.

When I was in foster care the family I was living with told social workers that I tried to jump in front of a car so they could have me hospitalized while they renovated the bedroom I was staying in.

TRUE

I almost had you guys on this one, but then some of you who I've known for awhile came along and guessed true. I was about 13 or so at the time. They told the social workers that I tried to jump in front of a car which landed me in the psychiatric ward at the Health Sciences Center for 3 weeks. The psychiatrist asked me what my problem was and I told him I didn't have one, then he asked me why I tried to jump in front of a car, to which I replied "I didn't.". Sometime after the second week I realized they're never going to let me out unless I come up with a different answer, so I told them I was upset and I wanted to kill myself but now I'm all better and I want to live! They released me. Upon my return the bedroom I was staying in was repainted & the floor was redone. o_O

We were so poor I had to collect bruises.

TRUE

Ok, I guess it's kind of a trick question too. False answers will be accepted for credit :p

We were really that.poor. I guess I didn't have to collect bruises though. It's just what I told people when they asked me about my bruises. I was a tomboy and always plenty of bruises and scrapes, plus some weekly visits to the hospital for stitches. After my dad left my mom was going to university and she was literally living off child support, which was less than welfare. We lived off nothing but canned tomatoes for a whole week once *blech*.

Thanks for playing! I think I'll do some more polls like this in the next little while ;)
